Why bizarre ads work?

Why do bizarre ads work? In a world that has too many options and too little time, most of the times, we tend to move towards the only thing that stands out or touches us most powerfully, emotively...Here is a lovely presentation from Seth Godin that I enjoyed on Ted - a must-see for all brand creators...

The Great Book Wall Promo

November 2009 saw the Aviva Great Book Wall Promo. 1 week, target to collect 100,000 books. To tie-up elements across 300 schools, PR teams, Site activation, Promo partners required a phenomenal effort and promo management skill. Custom boxes were deployed at 300 schools overnight, coordination was a pain but the results were there for all to see.

We collated over 103,000 books, the PR event was chaired by Kapil Sibal, Minister for Education, the event was timed to coincide with the Children's day 14th Nov and Education day 18th Nov. The press coverage was visible - and for the partnering NGO - this was a shot-in-arm to deliver a promise of a new dawn for street children!

A new dawn - but 'just another day' at CPM!

Start with the customer!

Hi

I tasted retail in '97 when I prepared what was possibly the first IT retail policy manual for the IT Industry. Over the years, retail and it's direct interface with the customer became a fascination, a passion and I devoured books, experimented with different promos and visual merchandising setups to evolve a rich repertoire of options to maximise retail business. This blog is an ode to retailing - an opportunity to network retail professionals and build a strong community platform for retail creativity!

Let this represent the cracking of the Champagne bottle, let the CXL retail ship roll...
